Ain’t no mountain high enough to stop us quilters! It’s Mirrored Mountains release day (yay!) and I’m celebrating the end of my manic sprint to the finish line with a well-deserved daydream. Living in a city where the closest thing to a mountain is the small hill I have to walk up every day on my way home, I find myself regularly fantasising about scenarios where I’m tucked up in a cabin, nestled amongst a mass of mountains, underneath a pile of quits that I’m merrily hand stitching (and I don’t even LIKE hand quilting?!).
Daydream aside, as well as my pattern release, I’m also celebrating some of the other quilters who have been inspired by striking landscapes. Let’s share the love! Have a scroll through these must-make designs, or head to my shop to add the Mirrored Mountains pattern to your basket.
The quilt that made me fall in love with Brittany of Lo & Behold Stitchery’s designs, Mountain Horizon is just too perfect for words. Stripes? Tick. Curves? Tick. Yes, please!
Suzy Quilts’ mountain-inspired quilt is one of the very few quilts that makes my fingers itch for a little improv piecing (it generally appeals to me as much as hand quilting does…).
I’m obsessed with the bold simplicity of Claire Vogeley’s quilt design. As a die-hard solids lover, there’s nothing better to me than those crisp seams and textured quilting.
If you’re in the market to make a mountain quilt QUICK, look no further than Eliane of Patchwork & Poodles’ bold Misty Mountains design.
Daisy Aschehoug’s Peach Peaks is a quilt that quickly made it onto my to-make list the moment it arrived at Love Patchwork & Quilting HQ back in 2018. Unsurprisingly it’s still not made it onto my “made” list yet, but if you’ve made it this far you already know I like to dream.
